Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has been speaking about his fellow countryman Matthijs De Ligt.
The 19-year-old has been linked with a move away from AFC Ajax with FC Barcelona and Liverpool linked.
De Ligt has proven himself to be one of Europe’s most exciting young talents in his side’s extraordinary season.
Van Dijk on De Ligt: “I am very happy that he is standing next to me”
The Liverpool man has told De Ligt that there are still many areas of his game which he can improve.
However, given his age, van Dijk has been hugely impressed by the youngester.
He also expressed his delight at being able to play alongside the Ajax star.
Van Dijk said:
“What can De Ligt improve? In everything.
“He is an excellent defender, but he also know he can improve.
“If you play like that at that age that’s fantastic. I am very happy that he is standing next to me.”

Van Dijk netted in the Netherlands’ thumping 4-0 win over Belarus in Euro 2020 qualifying.
The 27-year-old was also named Man of the Match on his 25th appearances for Oranje.
