France vs Belgium

The World Cup semi-finals kick-off with a bang on Tuesday night.

In a mouth-watering matchup, European neighbours France and Belgium face-off for a place in the World Cup final.

While France have won the World Cup once in 1998, Belgium have never won it.

Will the Red Devils ever get a better opportunity than this?

Toby Alderweireld or Nacer Chadli?

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has a problem for the France game.

PSG right-back Thomas Meunier is out of the France match through suspension.

So how will Martinez plug the gap in his team?

Meunier has been one of Belgium’s most impressive players in Russia bombing up and down the right wing.

According to France Football, Martinez is debating whether to play Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld or West Brom’s Nacer Chadli in that role.

Belgium’s likely XI vs France

Chadli, who scored the winner against Japan, started a left wing-back against Brazil in the last-16.

France Football believe West Brom wide-man will start against France in the right wing-back slot instead.

Alderweireld is set to continue as part of a back-three, while Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen could switch to the left wing-back role.

Belgium’s predicted XI vs France is as follows.

Looking at some of the other possible Belgian selection decisions, Man United’s Maroune Fellaini is set to continue in the ‘wall of hair’ with Axel Witsel.

Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne should agin operate in a more attacking role, as he did against Brazil.

At the back, Barcelona’s Thomas Vermaelen is set to line up next to Man City’s Vincent Kompany. Is that the are of the pitch which is Belgium’s weak spot?
