Tottenham & Inter Milan to miss out as Everton ‘in advanced talks’ for Malcom

As per a report from Sky Sports tonight, Premier League outfit Everton are in ‘advanced talks’ with Bordeaux over the signature of in-demand winger Malcom.

Prodigious talent

Malcom, a 21-year-old Brazilian U23 international, was thrown into the limelight in a major way upon the opening of the winter transfer market this past January, after a stellar first half of the season in Ligue 1.

The versatile attacker, who can play on either wing or in a more central role, racked up 12 goals and 7 assists in 35 appearances (32 starts) in the French top-flight this past season, with his seering pace, hammer of a left foot and penchant for the spectacular having led to links with some of European football’s biggest clubs.

North London battle

In England, all of Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham were named as having expressed an interest in Malcom, though it was the latter duo who emerged as the clear leading contenders for his signature towards the close of the transfer window in January.

Reports had suggested that Spurs were closing in on a deal with Bordeaux which would have seen Malcom signed immediately, but remain in France for the remainder of the season, though such rumours were eventually proven to be wide of the mark.

As such, Mauricio Pochettino’s men opted to bring in Lucas Moura from PSG instead.

Arsenal, meanwhile, switched their attentions to securing an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, though the Gunners have nevertheless continued to be linked with a move for Malcom this summer.

Serie A link

But, as was first revealed by highly-reliable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio last month, Malcom looked set to snub a move to the Premier League this summer, having instead given his word to Serie A giants Inter Milan over a move to the San Siro.

Di Marzio noted that Malcom viewed Inter as the ideal environment to continue his growth as a player, and that the Brazilian ‘said yes’ to a move to the Nerazzurri during a meeting between the parties on the 4th of June, despite proposals from all of Liverpool, PSG and Borussia Dortmund.

However, it has since come to light that Inter and Bordeaux are in disagreement over the terms of any possible deal, with the former reportedly determined to secure a loan with option to buy, whereas the French outfit would prefer a purchase obligation for next summer.

Goodison bound

As such, other suitors have been allowed back into the race for Malcom, with Tottenham rumoured to have reignited their chase of the youngster, and Fulham having even been named as a surprise potential destination over the last 7 days.

But, as per a shock update from Sky Sports’ reporter Kaveh Solhekol a short time ago, Malcom does in fact look set for a move to the Premier League, but not to any of the aforementioned clubs.

Instead, Bordeaux are said to be in ‘advanced talks’ with Everton over the gifted attacker’s sale, with details of the proposed deal below:
