Adam Lallana opens up over World Cup injury heart-break

Heartbreak

Liverpool and England star Adam Lallana has opened up over missing out on an incredible World Cup campaign due missing most of the season due to injury.

The midfielder would almost certainly have been at the World Cup had he not been injured for the majority of the season.

He had been struggling with several injuries and missed out on a spot in Gareth Southgate’s plans due to that.

His latest injury came in the form of a hamstring problem in March and that was the final nail in the coffin for his World Cup hopes.

Opened up

Now, the player has been talking to the Telegraph about the frustration he felt having to sit at home.

“Of course it was frustrating to miss out because I wanted to be there. Sometimes when you are a professional footballer, you have to deal with tough decisions,” he explained.

“It probably wasn’t a comfortable call for him [Southgate] but he made it, like he made it for the other lads who missed out. I know that if my season was different and I had been fit, I would have been there. But it was probably the right call. Gareth has been absolutely brilliant.

“He said you don’t gain your form in a tournament, going on history and past experiences. The lads had a massive tournament but I am sure I have still got a lot to give. I will be there in the next camp.”

Jurgen Klopp offers final chance to injury-hit Sturridge

Adam Lallana isn’t the only Liverpool star that had an injury-hit campaign last season.

That is because Daniel Sturridge has struggled with injury for a number of years and last season was no different.

Now, Jurgen Klopp is willing to give him one final chance.
