Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) – The Arc of Monroe is switching up its annual golf tournament fundraiser.
For the first time, the organization is holding an adaptive tournament. This means equipment such as golf carts and clubs will be available for players with different abilities to participate.
Support is also available at each hole for all players if they ask for it.
People playing in the tournament at the Penfield Country Club on Monday said they have really been looking forward to the event.
“Being out here and enjoying the nice weather and meeting new people,” said Jimmy Lee, one of the players on the course. “You can just have fun and concentrate.”
“It’s something that we need to continue doing year in and year out. It’s something special for them and that really makes the day rather than getting out there and playing 18 holes,” said David Meisenzahl, chairman of the Arc Foundation.
Proceeds from the fundraiser on Monday will benefit people with intellectual and developmental disabilities supported by the Arc of Monroe.
