It’s always cool to see strange, unusual cars driving on the Nurburgring Nordschleife. This NASCAR-style V8-powered stock car may be the coolest oddball Green Hell visitor of all.
BridgetoGantry.com founder and Road & Track contributor Dale Lomas was given the opportunity to drive this DNRT V8 Championship NASCAR-style stock car around the Nurburgring during a private track day. Because it wasn’t an official tourist session, the car didn’t need to be street-legal to get on track. According to Lomas, the Howe Racing-built machine makes 525 horsepower from its 6.0-liter V8, and features a solid axle and no driver aids.

Though Lomas is no stranger to driving high-horsepower cars on the ‘Ring, he found the stock car brutally demanding—no surprise considering it wasn’t built for this sort of thing. Despite its drawbacks, he makes it clear it was a true joy to experience time behind the wheel. Check out the full video for yourself.
