Why Josh Hart is throwing NBA stars’ signature shoes in the trash

Lakers guard Josh Hart is heading into his second NBA season, so he doesn’t have a signature sneaker quite yet. We do know that he won’t be wearing Paul George’s sneakers, though.

Hart posted a video to his Instagram Story on Thursday, showing him toss a bunch of Nike sneakers into a trash can. George’s Nike PG sneakers were included in the pile of discarded footwear.

It may have seemed a bit wasteful, but the Lakers guard had a solid reason for it all. He said that he’s too competitive to wear the signature shoes of an opponent.

The caption read, “Too competitive to wear (people’s) shoes I compete against.”

Hart is a Nike athlete, so that step would basically leave him limited to just the LeBron 16 and Kobe AD shoes. He wore Kobe’s shoes during Summer League and much of last season.

Or, of course, Lonzo Ball could get him in some ZO2’s, but Nike wouldn’t be too thrilled.
