NBA trade news: SHOCK Kobe Bryant return, LeBron James replacement, Kawhi Leonard twist | Other | Sport

Kobe Bryant return claim

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal is still hoping to see former team-mate Kobe Bryant make a return to the NBA.

Bryant played his entire 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers before calling time on his career in 2016.

Talk of a shock return has been mooted for the five-time NBA champion and according to Hall of Fame star O’Neal, he believes it would be one of the greatest NBA stories of all-time if it happened.

“He will never go to the Big 3 before he does the NBA. Everybody knows who Kobe is. You’re telling me Kobe can’t give somebody a nice 15-20 minutes a game?” O’Neal said on The Big Podcast with Shaq.

“If you align all the dots and align all the moons and oceans … if he came back at 40 then the announcement would be the biggest sports announcement in history.

“The jersey thing would triple in one day. Everybody would be talking about it. He wouldn’t even need to play great, just come play 15-20 minutes a game as a Laker…

“If they happen to do well, it would probably be one of the greatest stories in NBA history. And Kobe likes stuff like that, that’s all I’m saying.”

LeBron James replacement

The Cleveland Cavaliers are finally moving on from their time with LeBron James and have unveiled plans of a new banner set to replace one of their former star.

The iconic James banner across the street from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland was removed in July after the 33-year-old chose to play for the Los Angeles Lakers.

And the Cleveland Planning Commission have now revealed they will replace James’ banner with fan-submitted photos designed to look like one of Guardians of Traffic that watch over the nearby Hope Memorial Bridge.

The team’s slogans of “ALL FOR THE LAND” and “All for One. One for All” will also be on the banner as well as the Cavs’ “C” logo.

“Our goal was to create a meaningful offering of public art to celebrate The Land and all those who support and love this city and region. Our hope is that it stirs the emotion and sense of pride, community and celebration of our city in a personal way for those invested in The Land,” said Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena CEO Len Komoroski in a press release.

“In addition to the banner being the perfect selfie backdrop for Cavs fans, Clevelanders and visitors who come downtown to enjoy all that The Land has to offer, the design provides the opportunity to engage everyone no matter where they live and no matter what their connection to our city and community is— our pride spreads far and wide.”

Kawhi Leonard update

Kawhi Leonard could be set to stay with the Toronto Raptors long-term if his latest purchase is anything to go by.

Leonard joined the Raptors this summer after ending his time with the San Antonio Spurs.

The 27-year-old could still move on next summer with a move to the Lakers thought to be on the cards.

But according to NBA analyst Peter Yannopoulos, Leonard has now bought a house in Toronto that could suggest he sees his future in Canada.

Yannopoulos tweeted: “Kawhi Leonard has bought ( not rented) a new home in Toronto. Good news for the Raptors. #RDS #TSN #NBA”.
