SAN ANGELO The UTPB women’s golf team made a 16-stroke improvement Tuesday and finished eighth at the Concho River Classic at Bentwood Country Club.
The Lady Falcons shot 368 in the final round after opening with a 384 to finish with a 36-hole total of 752.
Emily Serrano (90-82—172) tied for 30th place overall for UTPB’s best individual finish. Brielle Whitney (86-93—179) tied for 36th, Hailey Cernoch (93-90—183) tied for 40th and Keixa Lopez (115-103—218) finished 44th.
Arkansas-Forth Smith (308-306—614) made up nine strokes on first-round leader Midwestern State (304-315—619) to win the team title. Arkansas-Fort Smith’s Emily Martin (74-74—148) birdied the first playoff hole to edge Western Texas College’s Kiana Oshiro (75-73—148) for the medalist title.
