Prep Golf Roundup: QHS girls win second straight Galesburg Invitational title

The Quincy High School girls golf team won its second straight Galesburg Invitational title with a team score of 343 Saturday afternoon at Bunker Links Golf Course in Galesburg, Ill.

QHS held off Geneseo, who shot a 357 while Macomb shot 361.

Laci Novosel was the low Blue Devil after shooting a 73. Avery Scott carded an 83 and Brooke Walbring carded an 87.

Macomb’s Emma Thorman took medalist honors with a 68.

Boys Galesburg Invitational: The Quincy Notre Dame boys golf team took third place with a 308 at Bunker Links Golf Course. The Raiders’ Alex McCulla shot a 74 as the low scorer.

Luke Siebers carded a 75, and David Hutson shot a 79 to give QND three golfers under 80.

Peoria Notre Dame won the team title with a 299, while Rock Island Alleman was second with a 299.

Quincy High School’s Parker Campbell shot a 74, helping the Blue Devils to a fourth-place finish with a 312.

Rushville-Industry Invitational: Wyatt McKinney shot a 78 to lead Unity to the championship in the eight-team event at Scripps Park Golf Course.

McKinney shot a 78, while the Mustangs shot 331. Unity’s other top scores included Grant Ohnemus (82), Gage Moller (83) and Kody Gronewold (88).
