Hazard can be stopped
Eden Hazard may have been the star man as Chelsea beat Liverpool this week, but he’s not untouchable.
That’s according to manager Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp has claimed that Hazard can be marked out of a game.
He also noted that you have to defend as well as possible if you want to keep Hazard quiet.
Standard Sport report he said: “Stopping passes to Hazard, good idea; being close, also a good idea, but he likes it when somebody’s close to be honest.
“We all know that we could have defended that goal that he scored. That’s clear: we had three challenges.
“Yes, he did well, [but] if we had one 100 per cent challenge in four or five, Eden Hazard can’t do what he did. But that’s how it is and that’s not new.
“It’s always clear we need one for the challenge, one for the protection, maybe two for the protection. Three times.
“And even then still not possible to score a goal but he did because of a perfect finish. I can easily respect that but no player is not defendable.
“That’s all how it is, but they are difficult to defend. If you give Sadio Mane the ball in the wrong space then you cannot get him anymore as an opponent. It’s not possible.
“We have those players as well so it’s good. We have to make sure we close the right spaces and if we have a challenge we should try to win it a bit more than we did in that situation.”
Chelsea lead 1-0
In the head-to-heads this week, Chelsea lead 1-0.
They beat Liverpool in the League Cup, and now want to do the same in the Premier League.
The Blues would then overtake Liverpool in the Premier League table as well.
Chelsea of course want to do as well as they can this season.
Even their biggest fans may be shocked at how well the club have taken to life under their new manager.
Maurizio Sarri has certainly taken the club and transformed them.
Not only are the Blues playing good football, but they’re winning and Sarri seems to have got the players on side.
The key being Eden Hazard, who is now thought to be close to penning a new deal with the Blues.
