Jesse Lingard’s season of injury struggle so far
Jesse Lingard was undoubtedly one of the biggest positives to come out of Manchester United’s 2017/2018 season.
Eight goals in 33 appearances propelled Lingard into the England squad where he was a fixture for the World Cup in Russia.
This season however, like many players that went deep at the World Cup, has been much more of a struggle for Lingard.
The last appearance made by the Manchester United midfielder was against Derby County in the Carabao Cup.
Since then Lingard has been sidelined with a groin injury.

Jesse Lingard tipped to return for Manchester United against Chelsea
So far this Premier League season, Lingard has made just five appearances for Manchester United.
Lingard has played a total of 354 minutes, without scoring a goal or registering an assist.
On Thursday, the Evening Standard report that Lingard is expected to return to action when Manchester United play Chelsea after the international break. On Saturday week.
James Robson reveals that an inflammation on the groin is what has kept Lingard out of action.
Robson writes: “It is hoped the two-week period of recuperation will see him return to play some part in a series of pivotal games for Jose Mourinho’s side when the domestic calendar resumes.”
Lingard has also been fairly quiet on Instagram during his injury absence. This post below was his first and only picture in October so far.
Manchester United’s tough run after the international break
Jesse Lingard’s return from the groin problem will be welcome with Manchester United facing a testing period after the international break.
Manchester United face a very difficult looking spell that includes: Chelsea (a), Juventus (h), Everton (h), Bournemouth (a), Juventus (a) and Manchester City (a).
This is a critical period for Jose Mourinho in both the Champions League and Premier League, and the knives will be out for The Special One again if results go awry.
