Martin Keown explains Arsenal’s biggest improvement under Unai Emery

Former Arsenal player Martin Keown has explained what he thinks Arsenal’s biggest improvement under Unai Emery has been this season.

‘On Sunday they bossed the game’

Speaking in his Daily Mail  Q&A, Keown stated:

“Arsenal were brilliant under George Graham, then Arsene Wenger took them onto another level, but because the last few years haven’t been as good, they think they’ve got their club back? I don’t get it.

“What’s clear to see is that they have won three times away from home — having only done so four times on the road in the Premier League throughout the whole of last season.

“As much as I enjoyed the confidence and expression of Aaron Ramsey’s Harlem Globetrotter goal, what impressed me more was the grit, tenacity and determination in Arsenal’s performance.

“After letting Fulham back into the game, they showed real character to win emphatically in the second half.

“Lucas Torreira has brought balance to the midfield. He has freed Granit Xhaka to be more creative.

“Until this match, it felt like Unai Emery’s Arsenal were a work in progress. On Sunday they bossed the game.”

Arsenal impress under Emery

Arsenal had a tough start to the season as they lost to both Manchester City and Chelsea.

Since then, however, Unai Emery has slowly been moulding Arsenal in his image.

Emery would pick up his first win as Arsenal boss as the Gunners beat West Ham 3-1.

They would then pick up back-to-back away wins vs Cardiff and Newcastle.

The Gunners would pick up another two league wins vs Everton and Watford before picking up their third away league win of the season vs Fulham on Sunday.

Arsenal have also won both of their Europa League games and their League Cup tie vs Brentford under Emery.
