Afghanistan Premier League: Hazratullah Zazai records six sixes in an over | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Rising star Hazratullah Zazai, who has played 2 ODIs and 3 T2OIs for Afghanistan so far, has made his presence felt by hitting six sixes in an over during the ongoing Afghanistan Premier League at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

With this record feat, Zazai joined the elite list of players, who achieved the same in different formats of the game, that includes the likes of Sir Garfield Sobers, Ravi Shastri, Herschelle Gibbs, Yuvraj Singh, Alex Hales, Ravindra Jadeja and Misbah-ul-Haq.

Representing Kabul Zwanan, the left-handed batsman came out all guns blazing against Balkh Legends left-arm orthodox bowler Abdullah Mazari.

Zazai turned Mazari’s debut into a nightmare by hitting him all over the park and picking 37 runs from the over which also included a wide.

Zazai, who was eventually dismissed for a 17-ball 62, scored a blistering fifty off just 12 balls, the joint-fastest in the history of the T20 cricket. Yuvraj and Chris Gayle were the other two batsmen to have scored 12-ball fifties.

The 20-year-old is on a roll after becoming the first player to score a century in the T20 league that came against Nangarhar Leopards.

Defending 244, the Balkh posted a 21-run win over Kabul after restricting them to 223/7 in stipulated 20 overs. Gayle’s aggressive 80 propelled Balkh to a formidable total and in response Zazai’s blistering fifty threatened to overhaul it but Kabul ultimately fell short of their target.
