Power outage at NCHSAA office complicates girls tennis playoffs

— It is not clear whether or not the girls dual team tennis brackets and individual regional matchups will be available on Monday morning as originally scheduled.

The N.C. High School Athletic Association office in Chapel Hill has been without power since Tropical Storm Michael moved through the state on Thursday. As of Sunday night, power had not been restored to the office.

Late Sunday night, the NCHSAA released a statement on its website notifying schools of the issue.

According to the NCHSAA, the power outage has affected the ability of coaches, athletic directors and conference administrators to submit tennis qualifier information for both dual team and individual championships.

“We are working diligently to formulate a plan for the posting of dual team women’s tennis brackets,” the statement said. “We ask for your patience as we work toward an amendable solution to post the brackets as soon as feasibly possible.”

Schools are advised that they should still submit dual team tennis lineups by email. Once power is restored, the NCHSAA will announced more information about individual regional entries.

The first round of the dual team tennis state playoffs is scheduled to be held on Wednesday afternoon. Individual tennis regionals are slated for Friday and Saturday.
