Chelsea news: Eden Hazard and Willian don’t trust Alvaro Morata – Blues legend Ruud Gullit

The former Chelsea boss feels the Spain international isn’t completely to blame for his struggles in front of goal at Stamford Bridge

Eden Hazard and Willian don’t trust Chelsea team-mate Alvaro Morata, according to former Blues manager Ruud Gullit.

Morata has struggled to replicate his best form in a blue shirt since joining from Real Madrid for £58 million ($76m) in July 2017.

The Spain international scored 11 Premier League goals in his first season in England, with Morata later admitting he spent much of the campaign struggling with a back injury.

But Morata has failed to hit the back of the net consistently this season as well, scoring just two goals in eight Premier League apperances as well as the winner against Vidi in the Europa League earlier this month.

The former Real Madrid striker was substituted by Maurizio Sarri in the 79th minute of Saturday’s game against Manchester Utd despite Chelsea needing a goal to equalise.

Morata had managed just one shot on target throughout the match at Stamford Bridge before he was replaced by Olivier Giroud, with Chelsea going on to equalise in the 96th minute through another substitute, Ross Barkley.

But Morata’s struggles in front of goal aren’t completely his fault according to former Chelsea boss Gullit, who feels his teammates should share some of the blame for failing to create chances for the 25-year-old.

“His team-mates don’t come into any positions where they create anything for him,” Gullit told beINSports.

“The worst part is you can see Willian and Hazard always dribble inside because they don’t trust him.

“But also when the crosses are in, I think there was a moment in the first half where you asked “where is Morata”, he wasn’t there. So they don’t trust him.”
