After successfully tipping a late goal when the sides met two weeks ago, we are again backing a late strike when they play at San Siro on Wednesday
Inter welcome Spanish champions Barcelona to San Siro on Tuesday knowing that a victory would seal their place in the last 16 of the competition.
The two sides met at the Camp Nou on matchday three where the Catalans won 2-0, but since then Inter have enjoyed excellent domestic victories with a 3-0 win over Lazio and a 5-0 thrashing of Genoa.
Barca meanwhile have been racking up victories as well despite missing Lionel Messi, although the Argentine could return to the matchday squad for the visit to Milan.
Latest odds
Luciano Spalleti’s side have won five consecutive home matches in all competitions and bet365 price them at 12/5 (3.40) to pick up three points on Tuesday. Barca are available at 21/20 (2.05) while the draw can be backed at 13/5 (3.60).
Team news
Having missed the last three matches, Lionel Messi could be on the bench for Barca with the forward having recovered from a broken arm quicker than expected. Samuel Umtiti continues to be unvailable for Ernesto Valvdere.
Inter for their part have no major injury concerns.
Preview
Barca’s record in the group stages of the Champions League is excellent, with the Catalan side unbeaten in their last 11 games during which time they have kept nine clean sheets.
The Blaugrana’s win over Inter two weeks ago saw them dominate every facet of play with more possession, more shots, more corners, a higher pass completion rate and more aerial duels won.
Barca’s second goal came with seven minutes left, continuing the trend of late goals in their games this season and giving us a winner in our tip for a goal to be scored after 77 minutes.
While there is a temptation to back an away win, there could also be some value in backing another late strike.
Tips and predictions
The price for a Barcelona win certainly appeals while the odds of 9/4 (3.25) for the visitors to be ahead at half time and full time is also interesting.
However we will repeat our strategy from their previous clash and back a goal to be scored after 74:59 minutes at 5/6 (1.83). This bet has paid out in each of Barca’s last five games in all competitions and in four of Inter’s previous five.
