Arsenal 1 – Wolves 1
In the end Arsenal snatched a share of the spoils at home to Wolves on Sunday in the Premier League.
Arsenal were starring at a home defeat after Ivan Cavaleiro broke the deadlock after 12 minutes.
However the Gunners levelled in curious circumstances with four minutes to go when a Henrikh Mkhitaryan cross missed everyone to nestle in the Wolves net.
Does Unai Emery know what to do with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang?
In recent weeks, eyebrows have been raised regarding Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s role at Arsenal.
Aubameyang completed 90 minutes against Wolves.
That’s the first time the Gabonese striker has played a full league match since the opening two weeks of the season.
And Aubameyang has been dropping hints he’s best pleased with his situation at the Emirates Stadium.
After the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace, Aubameyang ‘liked‘ a tweet questioning why Unai Emery always takes him off.
Aubameyang then gave off overtly passive aggressive vibes when he was subbed out of Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool.
Against Wolves, more questions about Aubameyang were tabled after Emery shifted the forward’s role at halftime.
Where should Aubameyang play in the Arsenal XI?
Emery made a significant tactical shift at halftime against Wolves.
At the start of the match, Aubameyang was deployed down the left hand side as Alexandre Lacazette played through the middle.
With Arsenal chasing the game at the break, Emery switched from 4-2-3-1 to 4-3-1-2 to play Aubameyang in tandem with Lacazette up front.
Social media reaction
Aubameyang’s shifting role in the Arsenal setup has been noticed by plenty of fans on social media.
Debate over Aubameyang’s role in the team in raging.
Playing Aubameyang out of position at LW, forcing Iwobi out of position at RW, and subbing Iwobi (the team’s only winger) at halftime.. is not my favorite Emery managing #arsenal

I really don’t understand why Emery insists in playing Aubameyang left wing.

Unai Emery!!! If you can’t start Iwobi on the left attacking wing ahead of Aubameyang just leave him on the bench. You should know by now he can’t be effective playing from the right. Be smart.

Emery needs to decide what we’re going to be shaped upfront. It’s clear that Aubameyang is wasted at left flank and works better when he’s partnered with Lacazette.

Emery needs to end this aubameyang from the flanks nonsense, he should be him or either lacazette starting, and not both, also needs to explain subbing off our only creative players, when we are chasing the game, I’m sorry you can’t sub off ozil when you’re chasing the game.

We play absolutely shocking football under Emery, so boring to watch. Aubameyang is not a Left midfielder ffs. Play 2 up front or 1 and a proper winger.

Aubameyang should only be played as a central striker
If Emery feels he can’t play ahead of Lacazette then play 442 or leave him on the bench
Iwobi, Mkhitaryan, Smith Rowe even the 2 eggs Ramsey and Ozil should be played ahead of him out wide

I may be very wrong but not sure if Emery is having Aubameyang

Emery needs to make a choice now. Lacazette or Aubameyang uptop in the 4-2-3-1 or go 4-4-2 either flat on on a dimond shape.
