That’s according Dahntay Jones, who was a team-mate of LeBron James when the Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA title in 2016.
The Lakers have endured a barren run outside of the playoffs for the past five years but are finally looking up after acquiring James as a free agent in the summer.
They currently hold a 10-7 record for the season with hopes of a playoff run.
But next summer could prove huge for the Lakers as they aim to bring in another top free agent to help build a title challenging team.
Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard have been heavily linked, but Jones believes Thompson would be the perfect fit alongside James.
And with the Washington Wizards recently admitting the likes of Beal and John Wall are available for trade, Jones suggests the Lakers should go all out to sign the former in order to give them the best shot at landing Thompson.
“It makes absolute sense,” Jones said on The Herd.
“Klay Thompson would be the perfect compliment to LeBron but Bradley Beal is right under him.
“He hasn’t had the ability to play with players Klay Thompson has.
“I think they’re comparably talents and if you have the opportunity to get Bradley Beal then that’s something you have to explore.
“He is an All-Star, he is a fierce competitor and he is a knockdown shooter.
“He doesn’t need the ball in his hands to be effective and that’s something that is special and does not come around often.
“I think him and Klay Thompson are unique talents like that where they can affect the game without having the ball in their hands and are knockdown shooters, and defend as well, and are good character guys.
“I think that would be something you really have to look at and he would be a great addition to the Lakers with something to build with going forward.”
Despite Washington struggling this season, Beal has still managed to average 21.8 points per game through 17 games.
Thompson is enjoying a similar season on a personal level, averaging 21.7 points, including a record-breaking performance against the Chicago Bulls in which he finished with 14 threes.
