Betting Tips for Today: Carabao Cup clash looks set to be a low-scoring affair

Leicester City and Southampton meet at the King Power Stadium and our tipster believes opposing goals is the way to go in the East Midlands

Leicester City host Southampton in a re-scheduled last 16 Carabao Cup clash on Tuesday evening.

This game was originally due to be played just three days after the helicopter crash at the King Power Stadium which saw five people killed, including club chairmain Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

The winner will face Manchester City at home in the next round and 888Sport make the Foxes 4/5 (1.80) to triumph in normal time.

Mark Hughes is under pressure to deliver and with Premier League games against Tottenham and Manchester United following this cup tie, a positive result would be a timely fillip for the 55-year-old.

Southampton haven’t won a game in 90 minutes since October 1, but the Saints are 13/4 (4.25) to do so here. Both sides reached this stage courtesy of penalty shootout wins and it’s 13/5 (3.60) that spot kicks are required once more.

Neither team has shown a huge amount of positive form recently so it’s tough to plump for any of those three prices with any degree of confidence.

What does look overpriced is under 2.5 goals at 10/11 (1.91) with 888Sport. Plenty of changes are expected and that could only stunt the current lack of potency shown by both sides.

Wilfred Ndidi, Leicester City

Southampton did score twice at Fulham, but prior to that game they’ve netted just three times in their previous eight matches in all competitions and the Cottagers’ backline is the worst in the top-flight.

Leicester meanwhile, have failed to score more than once in their last six matches. Claude Puel’s defensive minded tactics have made the hosts tough to break down for the most part but their attacking output has dipped accordingly, and this looks a terrific opportunity to capitalise on that.

The Frenchman drew plenty of criticism for a similar approach during his time in charge at St Mary’s and with both managers likely to shuffle their packs, a further lack of attacking fluidity is to be expected.

This selection has paid out in each of the Foxes’ last four matches with the visitors also struggling in the final third, a tight match looks the way to go at 10/11 (1.91) with 888Sport.
