‘There are other things beyond tennis I want to achieve’

Maria Sharapova dealt with expectations since a very young age and she believes that going through bad and difficult times helped her to become a champion. ”Experience is a big thing’, Sharapova admitted.

‘I think it’s really priceless. But I don’t think, you know, that calmness and that mental toughness is something that you can just go to someone and someone can teach you about it. I think it’s just how you see certain situations instead of just being too negative, even though it’s something that you want to do.

And of course, it’s so easy to get down on yourself, wants to throw your racquet, complain about things. But I think positive thoughts and things just lead you to much better results. I mean, it’s something that you can definitely work on, absolutely.

Yeah, it’s challenging. But I think experience has really helped me.’ ‘Ultimately in my life obviously a big part of my life is tennis. But at the end of the day, I’m not gonna be, you know, playing for my whole life.

Tennis can only go to a certain point in your life. I think what I’ve had in my life is something that I’d love to, you know, have for obviously not the rest of my life. But my family, you know, it’s priceless really.

My parents have been through so much with me. No matter how good or bad the times have been, they’ve kept me at a certain level. They’ve taught me so much in life. Yeah, it’s great to have someone that will be sharing my life with onwards.

Yeah, I want to explore life. There are many other things in life as well that I’d want to do.’ ALSO READ: Rafael Nadal: Worse players than David Ferrer won a Grand Slam title
