The Bryan Brothers – Mike and Bob, will play at next month’s ASB Classic in Auckland. This will be their first tournament together since May, when Bob Bryan was side-lined due to injury. Mike paired up with fellow American Jack Sock to win Wimbledon, the US Open and the ATP Finals.
However, with Bob back to full fitness, the brothers will reunite in the new year. One of the most successful doubles team of all time, they have won more titles than any other team, a total of 114 together and have held the world No 1 doubles ranking jointly for 438 weeks, and consecutively for 139 weeks.
Yet to win a title in Auckland, this will be the third time they are playing at the event. “They truly are the most successful pairing of all time and one of the most exciting doubles combinations to watch,” Classic tournament director Karl Budge said.
“Their record speaks for itself and their on-court energy and banter will make them crowd favourites for sure.” The ASB Classic will get underway on January 7th at the ASB Tennis Centre. “We are stoked to be coming back to Auckland,” the brothers said in a joint statement.
“We’ve got a bit of a point to prove. We’ve won 114 titles together but are yet to get the W in Auckland. We’ve got to change that. Here’s hoping 2019 can be our year.” ALSO READ Maria Sharapova explains why she moved from Russia to United States
