Burnley 2-0 West Ham LIVE stream online: Premier League football as it happened – Hammers lose 2-0

Burnley vs West Ham
Premier League 2018-19

Venue: Turf Moor

Burnley rediscovered some of their old swagger as they brushed aside West Ham 2-0 to ease their relegation worries.

Chris Wood got his now customary strike against the Hammers before the outstanding 19-year-old Dwight McNeil bagged his first Premier League goal – both inside the opening 35 minutes.

Four days after they were thrashed 5-1 here by Everton, Burnley looked resolute at the back and confident going forward as they secured only their second win since the start of October, offering reminders of why they were playing their way into Europe this time last year.

FULL TIME | Burnley 2-0 West Ham

A miserable afternoon for the Hammers as goals from Wood and McNeil condemn them to a deserved defeat.

SUBS

90 mins: Wood receives a big hand from the home support as he makes way for Sam Vokes.

There will be four minutes of added time.

2018-12-30T16:05:20.953Z

89 mins: Heaton with a fine stop!

Having been largely untested for 89 minutes, Heaton is forced into action with a fine save after Carroll rose well to head Cresswell’s cross. The England international gets a fingertip on it and pushes it onto the bar.

Fine stop from the 32-year-old.

2018-12-30T15:58:05.193Z

85 mins: CHANCE! Xande Silva just over!

The Portuguese youngster nearly makes an instant impact, curling just over from the edge of the box. A goal then would have certainly made a few Burnley players nervy.

2018-12-30T15:56:33.310Z

83 mins: Taylor’s runs down the left flank have caused all sorts of problems for the West Ham backline but fortunately, the left-back’s effort from 30 yards flies into the stands, rather than the back of the net.

This game is fizzling out somewhat after an electric start to the half.

2018-12-30T15:52:24.183Z

78 mins: Felipe Anderson, who has looked well short of the star player we’ve seen in recent weeks, hits a shot from 25 yards out but it’s high, wide and not at all handsome.

73 mins: Arnautovic is hauled off after a quiet return to action and on comes Portuguese youngster Xande Silva.

2018-12-30T15:45:03.000Z

70 mins: West Ham’s play is slow, tepid and not at all threatening to the Burnley backline. Pellegrini will be disappointed with the reaction from his side, especially in the second half.

Not nearly enough attempts on goal considering Burnley have conceded 41 goals this season.

2018-12-30T15:39:48.866Z

65 mins: As Burnley take their foot of the gas, West Ham are just creeping into the game now and Carroll tries his luck from the edge of the box, but it’s saved easily by Heaton.

YELLOW CARD

2018-12-30T15:34:55.423Z

61 mins: Rice makes his case for England/Ireland’s rugby team with a cynical takedown on Barnes.

2018-12-30T15:33:11.350Z

58 mins: Finally, a West Ham chance. Anderson cuts in from the left and tries to place his effort into the far corner but it takes a big deflection off Tarkowski.

YELLOW CARD

2018-12-30T15:29:51.723Z

55 mins: Felipe Anderson is fuming as Cork tugs him back and escapes a booking. Moments later, Andy Carroll catches Barnes with a late aerial challenge and receives a caution.

2018-12-30T15:23:57.413Z

50 mins: Another chance! Fabianski denies Barnes!

What has happened to this West Ham team? There’s no fight, no work rate and they’re being torn apart at will.

Wood plays a clever one-two with Westwood and crosses for Barnes, who looks certain to score a third. But Fabianski makes a vital block and it remains 2-0. Quite how, I don’t know.

2018-12-30T15:21:39.080Z

46 mins: How has Wood missed!?

Oh it really should be 3-0 to Burnley as Gudmundsson flashes a ball across the goal and Wood somehow misses a simple tap-in. Sean Dyche simply can’t believe it.

West Ham have made a double change at the break.

Andy Carroll has replaced Lucas Perez, while Grady Diangana is on for Snodgrass, who had been booked.

KICK OFF

2018-12-30T15:19:32.386Z

KICK OFF | SECOND HALF

We’re back for the second half at Turf Moor.

HALF TIME

2018-12-30T15:04:51.853Z

HALF TIME | Burnley 2-0 West Ham

West Ham would like those 45 minutes back. Goals from Wood and McNeil have the hosts completely in control here.

2018-12-30T15:03:29.823Z

45+2 mins: Cork takes a right whack from Diop. Run it off, son…run it off.

2018-12-30T15:01:16.486Z

44 mins: It’s been a terrible half from West Ham’s perspective. With a bit more luck, Burnley would be out of sight by now.

Pellegrini needs a rethink in the second half.
