Tennis will continue after Nadal, Roger Federer retire -Davis Cup organizer

The former Davis Cup Spanish team captain Albert Costa believes tennis has a future after that Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic retire. In a chat to Mundo Deportivo, Costa said: ‘They are three amazing guys and I think it was very good, but they will leave and tennis will continue.

Football will not end when Messi and Cristiano leave. You will have other rivalries.’ Galo Blanco added: ‘For me, it is the best generation of history. They are so good that no one overtook them, and it will not definitely happen before they retire.

But tennis won’t end because some guy who will be called the new Federer or the new Nadal will come.’ On the future of men’s tennis, Blanco added: ‘You have a lot of younger players who you will speak about.

The tennis health is guaranteed. I mention Zverev, Thiem, Kyrgios, Khachanov and the younger players Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime. And you have a Spanish player, (Carlos) Alcaraz, despite he is very young (15-year-old).

They are a lot and very talented ones.’ On the new Davis Cup format, Costa concluded: ‘The best thing is to get 18 countries combined in a city. I see it very emotional and good for the players. In the future, we may review the date.’ About the Davis Cup taking place in Madrid, Nadal said: ‘Playing Davis Cup is always something very special, and even more with the atmosphere we will all see in November, with fans from all the participating countries.

To me, it will always be a pleasure to represent my country in this competition.’ ALSO READ: Rafael Nadal: Worse players than David Ferrer won a Grand Slam title
