As far as Volkswagen Golfs go, this Mk.2 model is one of the best-sounding examples I’ve heard in awhile. It has a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter inline-four from a Mk. 3 Golf that’s been upgraded with stronger internals and individual throttle bodies, paired with a sequential transmission and paddle shifters.
Sure, it’s not the most spotless car out there, but any track car with regular use will have a few dings—it’s a sign the car’s being driven properly. In addition to upping the power, those ITBs make it sound wonderful.
