The New York Knicks will battle the Philadelphia 76ers in another attempt to defeat one of the Eastern Conference’s elite.
The New York Knicks had their homecoming Friday night against the Indiana Pacers, only to lose for the 16th time in their last 19 games, 121-106. It dropped them to 10-32, and the schedule does not become easier from here.
The Philadelphia 76ers are the next team to play at Madison Square Garden, and while chemistry issues with Jimmy Butler recently hit the forefront, they remain one of the Eastern Conference’s top teams, at 27-16.
However, the Sixers recently dropped a game to the lowly Atlanta Hawks, who sit near the Knicks in the NBA standings, 123-121. Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and others were booed off the court for this effort, but they have the chance to rebound against a struggling New York squad that rarely buys itself a win.
Against Indiana, Enes Kanter (illness), Mitchell Robinson (groin) and Frank Ntilikina (left ankle) all sat out. So far, there’s no official announcement on if any of them will suit up Sunday night.
Kanter’s absence received recognition, as it happened just 48 hours after he posted a “cheat day” video, prepping to eat seven burgers and a basket of french fries.
The other storyline to watch for, Tim Hardaway Jr. left the Pacers game with an injury. The extent of it was never announced by the Knicks, but he did not return afterward. If he can’t play against Philadelphia, it raises concern for how this team will produce offensively.
