Arsenal still keen on signing Suarez in January despite transfer restrictions

Arsenal will not make any permanent signings in January

With just over half a season gone, the jury is still out on if Unai Emery has improved Arsenal.

Arsenal did go on a 22-match unbeaten run earlier in the season across all competitions.

Despite this, Arsenal are still only in 5th place in the Premier League and after losing to West Ham on Saturday, are now six points behind 4th place Chelsea.

As a result, Emery may have been keen to add some more additions to his squad in the winter window.

The centre-back and right wing spot, in particular, are somewhat weak spots for Arsenal.

However, Emery himself has recently confirmed that Arsenal will not make any permanent signings in January:

“We cannot sign anyone permanently.

“Only loan players this January.”

Arsenal still keen on Denis Suarez

One player Arsenal had previously been linked with is Barcelona’s, Denis Suarez.

But with Emery confirming no permanent deals will be made this window, Arsenal fans may have believed their hopes of landing the Spaniard were dead in the water.

The Mirror has since reported that Arsenal are still keen to land Suarez this January.

While no permanent signing will be made in January the Mirror are suggesting that it could be a loan deal with the option to buy in the summer.

They are also suggesting Arsenal would have to pay around £18m in the summer for Suarez.

Suarez has played 70, scored eight and assisted 11 during his time with Barca.
