Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez last night dropped a subtle hint regarding his future, after liking a number of posts relating to Arsenal’s victory over Chelsea.
Arsenal 2-0 Chelsea
Unai Emery’s Gunners welcomed London rivals Chelsea to the Emirates yesterday evening, in a crucial clash in the race for a spot in the Premier League’s top-4.
Arsenal sat 6 points behind 4th-placed Chelsea ahead of kick-off, with the hosts having no doubt headed into proceedings aware that a defeat would essentially have killed off their hopes of playing in the Champions League next season.
And the North Londoners’ subsequent performance certainly painted the picture of a side with their entire campaign on the line.
After bursting out of the blocks to push Chelsea onto the back foot from the off, Arsenal were rewarded early on, when Alexandre Lacazette did brilliantly to carve out space in the visitors’ box, before smashing into the roof of the Blues’ net.
And the Gunners went on to add a deserved second shortly before the interval, when Laurent Koscielny’s shouldered effort somehow found its way into the far corner of Kepa’s net.
This was how things remained for the rest of the matchup, with a stout defensive showing from Arsenal over the course of the second-half having eventually seen Bernd Leno rewarded with just his 2nd clean sheet of the Premier League season.
Suarez drops hint
And one individual who certainly seemed to enjoy the Gunners’ impressive performance yesterday evening was Barcelona outcast Denis Suarez.
Versatile midfielder/winger Suarez has of course been heavily-linked with a move to the Emirates this month, with multiple reliable outlets having insisted that a deal is inching closer to completion.
On Denis Suarez. Arsenal agree to loan him for €2-3m and €20-25 in the summer for a permanent. It’s what Denis wants. But FCB not giving the green light yet (to use him in Cup?)
