Barcelona’s squad for Real Madrid Copa clash

Spanish giants Barcelona have this evening confirmed the club’s squad for their Clasico showdown with Real Madrid tomorrow night.

Barcelona vs Real Madrid

The Blaugrana are set to welcome Real to the Camp Nou for the first-leg of their Copa Del Rey semi-final tie.

The clash comes as the first of three meetings set to take place between the two sides over the next month.

After going head-to-head in the 2nd-leg of their Copa tie on the 27th, Barca will then travel to the Bernabeu for a La Liga matchup on the 2nd of March.

Messi concern

Tomorrow night’s hosts, meanwhile, stumbled to a 2-2 draw at home to Valencia last time out.

The Blaugrana, currently 6 points clear atop the La Liga table, were forced to overcome a 2-0 deficit at the Camp Nou, with Lionel Messi having notched both of his side’s goals in a typically transcendent performance:

However, in a worrying development late in Saturday night’s clash, Messi also went down with a thigh problem, requiring treatment from Barcelona’s medical team.

And, though the Argentine went on to see out the remainder of the 90 minutes, Barca boss Ernesto Valverde confirmed in a post-match interview that his side’s talisman would require further tests to assess the seriousness of the issue:

As such, Messi was immediately labelled as a doubt to be fit to feature versus Real tomorrow night.

Messi in, Dembele out

But, in a huge boost to all associated with the Catalan giants, Barcelona’s squad announcement this evening has seen the 31-year-old named as part of Valverde’s El Clasico panel.

In less positive news for the Blaugrana, however, Ousmane Dembele has not been included.

French winger Dembele picked up an ankle injury versus Leganes two weeks ago, and has since been struggling with a bout of flu.

As such, Barca will have to make do without the services of their wing-wizard tomorrow night:
