Utah State’s Isaac Arturo Arevalo named Mountain West Men’s Tennis Player of the Week – Cache Valley Daily

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State’s Isaac Arturo Arevalo has been named the Mountain West Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played through Tuesday, Feb. 12.

Overall, it is the first time this season and the first time in his career that the Aggie freshman has earned MW Player of the Week honors.

Arevalo, a native of Mazatlan, Mexico, posted a combined 4-0 record last weekend as Utah State notched a pair of home wins with a 5-2 victory against Santa Clara and a 7-0 win against Montana State. Against the Broncos, Arevalo posted a straight-set win at No. 1 singles (6-3, 6-3) and teamed with sophomore Felipe Acosta in doubles play for a 6-4 win at the No. 2 spot. Against the Bobcats, Arevalo recorded another straight-set win at No. 1 singles (6-3, 6-0) and teamed with Acosta, once again, winning their doubles match at the No. 2 spot, 6-2.

Utah State (6-3) is back in action this week as they head to Des Moines, Iowa, and face Grand View (0-0) and Drake (4-3) on Friday, Feb. 15, at noon at 5 p.m. (MT), respectively, and Indiana (4-4) on Sunday, Feb. 17, at 9 a.m. (MT).
