Tamim begins positively:

As was the case in the first innings, Tamim has dealt in boundaries from the word go, including two fours and a six off Southee in the fourth over. Bangladesh are 27 for 0.

NZ declare after Williamson double:

The New Zealand skipper brings up his double ton in style, scoring a four off Abu Jayed and he immediately declares the innings. New Zealand finish with a mammoth 715 for 6, with a lead of 481 runs. Can Bangladesh put up a fight?

Record total:

A six for de Grandhomme off Mehidy, the batsman’s fourth maximum, has powered New Zealand past the 690 they had scored against Pakistan in Sharjah in 2014. Meanwhile, Williamson has registered the highest individual score in Seddon Park. The milestones continue as New Zealand bring up their first 700-plus total with de Grandhomme scoring another six off Mehidy.

De Grandhomme dealing in sixes:

A maximum off Khaled is followed by one off Mehidy as Colin de Grandhomme has started in a positive fashion. The lead has crossed 400. De Grandhomme also gets a lucky break, put down by Mithun off Mehidy in an over in which he managed three fours. The spinner has now conceded in excess of 220 runs, the most expensive figures for Bangladesh in Tests. De Grandhomme reaches his fifth Test fifty and continues to find the boundaries while Williamson has entered the 190s.

Day 3, Lunch:

New Zealand have crossed 600 with Williamson registering his sixth 150-plus score. Watling falls just before Lunch, caught down the legside off Mehidy Hasan as New Zealand go into the break at 605 for 6, leading by 371.

6000 Test runs for Williamson:

The New Zealand skipper reaches the 6000-run milestone, becoming the fastest from his country to reach the the landmark. New Zealand are 559 for 5, leading by 325.

Lead crosses 300:

Having taken a back seat when Wagner was flaying it around, Williamson gets a move on with three fours in an over off Abu Jayed.

First Test wicket for Ebadat:

He ends Wagner’s cameo, dismissing him for 47. Having scored a four earlier in the over, Wagner threw his bat at a short and wide delivery but could only manage a edge through to the ‘keeper. New Zealand are 509 for 5.

Wagner positive, 20th Test ton for Williamson:

While Williamson has brought up his hundred, it Wagner who has been doing all the big hitting in the first hour. Having managed a hat-trick of fours off Ebadat Hossain in an over, he does more damage as he scores a six, four and sixoff successive deliveries off Khaled Ahmed to power New Zealand past 500.

Build-up:

Hello and welcome to the Live Blog for Day 3 of the first Test between New Zealand and Bangladesh at Seddon Park, Hamilton. The New Zealand batsmen dominated the proceedings on Day 1 with Jeet Raval registering his maiden Test ton and Tom Latham going past 150 for the fourth time in his Test career. With Kane Williamson also coming good with the bat, Bangladesh endured a day of agony.

All eyes will be on Williamson, who’s nearing his 20th Test ton. When will he declare? How much is a safe total on a pitch that has been good for batting? We’ll find out soon.
